Project concept and space transformation

The project was carried out for the restaurant Pasqual, located in Valencia, and represents an architectural solution where the glazing functions not only as an enclosure, but also as an essential part of the spatial experience. The main objective was to create a completely open, visually light, and flexible facade capable of transforming the restaurant depending on the time of day, season, and flow of visitors. From the very beginning, the concept of the establishment was built around the connection between interior and exterior spaces. The restaurant is located in an active urban area surrounded by residential buildings, pedestrian zones, and constant pedestrian traffic, which meant the facade had to perform not only from a technical perspective, but also as a visual and commercial element.

The glazing had to attract attention from the street, open the interior toward the outside, and create a sense of spaciousness, light, and transparency. The architecture of the space was designed with clean lines, dark profiles, and large glazed surfaces that allow the restaurant to maintain a constant visual connection with the city. During the day, the facade allows a large amount of natural light to enter and creates an open and bright atmosphere. At night, the illuminated interior transforms the restaurant into a warm and visually attractive volume that stands out within the urban environment.

Installed systems and technical solutions

In this project, three large-format motorized guillotine systems were installed, designed to fully open the front facade of the restaurant. These structures operate using a vertical automated system: the glazed panels move upward and allow the facade to be opened almost completely. Thanks to this solution, the restaurant can function in two completely different ways. During the warmer months, the facades open up and the interior space effectively transforms into an open urban terrace, improving natural ventilation and creating a direct connection between the restaurant and the street.

During colder seasons or adverse weather conditions, the systems close hermetically again, ensuring thermal insulation, acoustic protection, and interior comfort. In addition to the guillotine systems, the project includes an automated main entrance and structural adjustment solutions specifically adapted to the dimensions and operation of the establishment. All elements were manufactured according to custom dimensions to integrate precisely into the existing architecture of the venue.

Safety glazing and energy efficiency

One of the most important aspects of the project was the selection of the glazing. Laminated triplex glass was used on both the interior and exterior sides, significantly increasing structural safety and the resistance of the systems to intensive daily use. The project incorporates energy-efficient glazing designed for constant commercial operation. This helps maintain thermal stability inside the restaurant, reduce energy losses, and improve visitor comfort even during peak occupancy periods.

The combination of dark profiles, large glass surfaces, and automation creates a modern and technological appearance without losing visual elegance. Unlike heavier traditional solutions, the facade here maintains a clean and minimalist aesthetic where glass becomes the true protagonist of the architecture. The result is a facade that appears visually light while being designed to withstand intensive daily use and maintain high technical performance over the long term.

Relationship between interior and exterior

One of the strongest elements of the project is the spatial perception created by the movable facades. When the systems are open, the boundary between the restaurant and the city practically disappears. The interior space visually expands outward, increasing the sense of openness and creating a much more dynamic experience for visitors. From the inside, the large glazed surfaces maintain a constant connection with the urban environment, adding visual depth and allowing a significant amount of natural light to enter.

This type of solution is especially effective in modern gastronomic concepts where atmosphere and spatial perception are part of the identity of the establishment. The facade also plays an important role from a commercial point of view. A visually open restaurant generates greater interaction with pedestrians, conveys activity, and makes the interior a visible part of the urban experience.

Installation specifics

The installation of large-format automated systems requires a very high level of technical precision. In projects of this type, even small deviations directly affect the operation of the mechanisms and the visual geometry of the facade. During the installation, comprehensive work was carried out including opening preparation, structural reinforcement, system alignment, and precise automation adjustment. Proper integration between motors, glass, and structure was essential to ensure smooth, quiet, and reliable long-term operation.

In addition, the project required maintaining an extremely clean aesthetic, with visually discreet profiles and precise integration into the existing facade of the building. The final result had to convey visual lightness without compromising strength or stability. The entire system was adjusted to withstand intensive commercial operation while maintaining mechanical precision and daily comfort of use.

Seasonal operation and comfort

One of the greatest advantages of the project is the flexibility of the space throughout different seasons of the year. In summer, the guillotine-type facades allow the entire front area of the restaurant to be fully opened, improving natural ventilation and creating a direct connection with the outside environment. This completely transforms the visitor experience and allows the establishment to function almost like a large open urban terrace, more dynamic and closely connected with the city.

In winter, the system closes hermetically again, maintaining thermal insulation, protection from wind, and acoustic comfort. Thanks to the use of modern aluminum systems and energy-efficient glazing, the restaurant can enjoy large glass surfaces without compromising thermal performance or interior comfort. Automation allows the space to be quickly adapted according to weather conditions or the operational needs of the venue.

Final result of the project

As a result, the Pasqual restaurant has obtained a contemporary facade that combines architecture, automation, and commercial functionality in a single solution. The space has become more open, brighter, and more flexible, allowing the restaurant’s operation to be quickly adapted according to the season or service format. The automated facade not only enhances the visual appearance of the establishment, but also completely transforms the visitor experience and the interaction between the interior and the city.

The project demonstrates how modern glazing systems can go far beyond the classic function of a window and become a key architectural element within a contemporary gastronomic concept. Thanks to the combination of technology, design, and technical precision, the restaurant has acquired a much stronger visual identity and a clearly differentiated spatial experience.

Role of Safe Smart Energy

The Safe Smart Energy team carried out the project comprehensively: from technical development and system adaptation to supply, automation, and final installation. The main objective was not only to install aluminum and glass structures, but also to create a solution prepared for intensive commercial use with high standards of aesthetics, reliability, and comfort.

Thanks to experience with complex projects and large-format automated systems, it was possible to integrate design, technology, and technical performance into a facade that today defines the image and character of the establishment. As a result, the client received not just new glazing, but a complete architectural solution prepared to operate efficiently and reliably for many years.
